Fernkloof Nature Reserve, which is about 10 minutes’ drive from 1 Marine Drive, boasts incredible views across the pristine fynbos vegetation towards the coastline. This 18 square kilometre reserve contains a huge diversity of animal and plant species. More than 1 250 species of plant have been identified in the reserve, which contains 18% of Cape Floral Kingdom species in a relatively condensed space. Antelope, baboon, mongoose, dassie, porcupine, genet and the occasional Cape Mountain leopard can also be found in this area. A 60km network of paths traverses the reserve, making it an excellent destination for hikers and cyclists. Both guided and self-guided options are available.
